Skills for Health
Karen qualified as a podiatrist in 1984 and worked in a variety of clinical roles for a number of years before moving into a number of management roles. This included some time as manager of the County Durham and Darlington Diabetes Network with a remit for implementation of the National Service Framework.
In 2005 Karen took up post in Skills for Health as Diabetes Workforce Development Manager with a remit to support the development of National Workforce Competences for diabetes and for patient education. After 18 months Karen took up the post of programme manager in Skills for Health with responsibility for public health and long term conditions including self care/self management. Following an organisational restructure Karen was appointed as Director of Policy in June 2009.
